Let’s see how I take on my adventures and creative 2025 bucket list!
This year’s bucket list might sound/read more like a goallist. But hear me out! From the summer of 2023 till autumn 2024 I was very restricted in what I could do. In case you are new here on the blog… Hi! I changed my last name. This was a long process from start to finish and there were many things I couldn’t do in that time just because the name change news could drop any minute and I would have to do a lot (A LOT) of administration. Like renewing my passport, driver license and many more things.
Anyway, you can imagine that I had to hold off on a lot of dreams and goals. So 2025 is going to be the year that I do things that make me feel free or finally be able to enjoy my private time again. Also, I am not going to lie, there is still a lot of unknown about my future this year. This is in regards to my business and where I might be living later in the upcoming months. My business will go international this year (whoop, whoop!) and I am planning on moving. Will I be immigrating or will I be a nomad again? Only time will tell. Right now I am simply enjoying life again and everything on this bucket list are things to make me fall in love with life a little more day by day.
1. Doing something every month that makes me feel alive
When I basically couldn’t leave the house for months on end, you probably understand this year I want to make it my mission to do something fun every month. Something that makes me feel alive. This could be anything! Going on holiday, concerts, trying out something new… you name it.
In the blog “Bucket list ’25 update #1 | London, concert & writing” I go into depth about the first two months.
January: London, baby!
February: Going to a concert.
In the blog “Bucket list ’25 update #2 | Leipzig, storytelling & writing” I go into depth about the third and fourth month of the year.
March: Leipzig Book Fair.
April: Created a new company.
In the blog “Bucket list ’25 update #3 | French & Rebirthday” I go into depth about the fifth and sixth month of the year.
May: A2 level in French!
June: Celebrated my Rebirthday.
In the blog “Bucket list ’25 update #4 | VIP at a concert” I go into depth about the seventh and seventh and eigth month of the year.
July: Being VIP at a concert.
August: Made (long term) future plans.
NEW
September: Getting VIP for a 2026 concert
Funny how I wrote about my VIP experience at a Stray Kids concert during the last bucket list update and now I get to talk about how I was able to get VIP another time! This time it’s for Laufey and the concert will be next year. September was a bit of an interesting month when it comes down to my private life. We, my mom and I, decided to put an offer in for a house and it got accepted! Then we had to plan everything from paperwork to the potential sale of our current house. So going out wasn’t really an option, but I am still on cloud nine that I was able to get myself another VIP ticket.
October: Learn something new; annotating
As someone who loves reading and works in (book)publishing, I always like to find new ways to enjoy a story. Ever since the fifth book in The Hunger Games universe came out I have been following thehungergamesteacher on Instagram. She gives amazing insides she picked up on while reading the books, explains them and also talks about how she annotates books. When there was a sale recently I did not hesitate to buy her Annotation Masterclass. It has been so much fun to study and also read books in a nonwork-related way, cause once you work in publishing you start reading stories very differently. The Annotation Masterclass helped me to get fun back in reading!
2. Finish my manuscript
How much I would love to finish the manuscript… I have no clue if it’s going to happen this year. There are also certain things I am waiting for before writing it. Every writer is different. I am very much a writer who likes to sit with things for a minute and experience instead of looking at a screen without typing, other times I just write no matter the experience or well crafted thought process. Currently I am in the first mindset, which makes sense. My private life is quite intense with us geering up to move and at the same time levelling up. However, with that said, I have decided to challenge myself and write every day in November. I want to see what I can do before we are going to do the big move. Whatever isn’t written in that month will happen in the new year.
3. Explore my storytelling
In the last few years there have been so many life changing things in my life. Both bad and good. I want to explore how this impacted my storytelling, grow with it and learn new things. I’ve been having such a blast with videography, but there is still so much to learn. However, storytelling is also writing, this blog, my business and many more things. This is an adventure that amazes me each day.
In September I challenged myself to post more often on social media and get a feeling what works and doesn’t. I was actually surprised by the answer. My lifestyle, language study posts do very well and my music posts really depend. It is fun to play with my overall storytelling online and see what makes me most excited. I also did this so I have an easier time posting in the long run. My life has changed so much over the last year. Finding ground in how I post online besides on my blog was simply not a priority, but I am very glad I did this. I learned so much.
October is the month of lots of musical releases. I decided to write multiple essays about the music of my favourite artist, to explore the music and also to understand the overall production much better. Last but not least, I also wanted to write those pieces to get better at writing. Understanding my craft. Why does my mind wander to this specific detail and not to the other one? Does this mean I have a signature style or do I need to do more nourishing?
4. Staying in a castle
Depending on how long you’ve been following this blog, you probably know all the unique places I’ve lived. From an estate to a museum. So the next logical step seems to me to stay at a castle, right?
Okay, so I was actually really close to making this happen. But what happened? Well, we bought a new house. No, but seriously, I was planning to spend my winter abroad (again) and on my way over to my temporary apartment I found this castle where I would have loved to stay for one or two nights. But then when we toured a house in The Netherlands we had a good feeling about it so I delayed finalising my trip. Now I am really glad I did, since the homeowner accepted our offer. It’s kinda sad that I know I won’t be able to reach this goal anymore for this year, but then again I can’t believe how much I travelled at the start of this year and all the places I have been to. And having dreams for the future is always a good way to live.
5. Become a polyglot
Let’s go! At the end of last year I joined a language learning community. It has been amazing to get to know like minded people all over the world and helping each other with language goals. It’s fun to share experiences and tips on learning. Studying languages brings me so much joy! Over the last few years it even helped me with exploring my storytelling when it comes down to writing.
Korean and German were my main focus. From speaking, learning vocab to grammar. I love these two languages a lot and I am seeing improvements, but there is also still work left to do. Can’t wait to explore even more so in the next two months.
Conclusion – My 2025 bucket list
A list filled with joy, learning and exploring. My life has gone through many seasons this year, even though I wished I could have achieved more of my bucket list, I am proud of all the things I have been able to do. There are still two months left of this year and I am very excited to keep on working on these dreams.
How is it going with your bucket list?
Love,
