All the adventures I have been on in my third week living in Vienna.
Surprise! If you didn’t know yet, I moved to Vienna just before my birthday. Two years ago I almost emigrated for a job to Salzburg and for that reason Austria always stuck in my head. I asked myself the question: why not go on your own terms? Find an apartment, rent it and work from there. So I did, I moved to a country I have always been wondering about. To a city that leaves me speechless since it’s filled up with my biggest interests. In a wonderful time of the year when the lights are dancing through the city.
– If you haven’t seen it yet, read here about my first week in Vienna.
– Or how about when I was clubbing in a museum on a random Tuesdaynight?
Wednesday, December 18
The night before I went clubbing in a museum, so I wanted to do something chill the next day. To me that sounds like going to a bakery and eating delicious food. I went to PARÉMI Boulangerie for a pistache croissant. There was a long line when I got there, it was for the café, but if you just came for the bakery you could immediately order. And that’s what I did. The sun was shining so I decided to get my croissant and sit outside. Two other women followed my lead and together we had an amazing lunch while talking about travelling. This is exactly what I love so much about (solo) travelling. Meeting people, chatting and seeing where the day takes you.
After lunch we went our own way, so I decided to go to Morawa Wollzeile. An amazing bookstore filled with German but also English literature. However, it was the big comic and magazine section that had me in awe. There was some more shopping that afternoon, I also went to Nomination to get a bracelet made. Afterwards, I headed back home to do some work.
Thursday, December 19
How much I wanted to explore Vienna, I also wanted to make sure to get tickets for the world tour of Kiss of Life. In February they make their way to The Netherlands and yes I’ve got tickets! In the afternoon I explored the neighborhood I live in and found some good food markets where I bought some nuts and fruit. In the evening I had a video call for work, before I went to bed early cause the last few days involved a lot of walking.
Friday, December 20
During the day I was working, but at night I went to the ballet at Wiener Staatsoper, The Winter’s Tale. I did not know what to expect beforehand. I knew I had tickets to sit on a balcony, but that meant I was sitting in a lodge with its own coat rack, makeup mirror and fancy seats… yeah no, that was not what I expected. But it was what I got and I loved it! I bought my ticket for just 25 euro which meant I was sitting in the back in the lodge. The view was good, the only thing I couldn’t see was the right sight of the stage. But I got my money’s worth so I was really happy. I didn’t think my smile could even go brighter that day until I met an influencer who with her posts inspired a lot of my stay in Vienna. I got the chance to thank her for her posts filled with information and tips about the city.
Saturday, December 21
The day before I noticed there was a pretty big chance that I didn’t bring enough Korean skincare products with me. My skin health has been a long journey and ever since I got it right, I don’t want to mess it up again. Luckily there are plenty of Korean Cosmetic stores in Vienna to choose from, but I went for one that is close to a place I also wanted to visit. Mimo Mimo is a lovely store with wonderful employees who could help to go and grab the perfect product for my skin. After I made a quick visit at Nomination to get a charm to remember my Vienna trip by.
I arrived back home late in the morning because I had to work. Working on the weekend is honestly lovely, since the streets of Vienna are very busy right before Christmas.
Sunday and Monday, December 22 and 23
Work, work, work
Tuesday, December 24
In the morning I still had work left to do and answering some emails, before I could chill for the rest of the day. Christmas Eve is the most important part of Christmas in Austria, so most things are closed the whole day or close up in the afternoon. After lunch I had time off, so I could relax and watch The Eras Tour while bullet journalling.
My third week in Vienna and I am still in awe of this adventure. But there are many more adventures and stories to come. Stay tuned for next week’s blog!
