Elk seizoen is natuurlijk een heerlijke leesmaand, maar ik denk dat de herfst mijn favoriet is!
De volgende vijf boeken lijken mij heerlijk om te lezen met het typische herfstweer:

Steven haar boeken zijn mijn auto-buy. Ze komt altijd met iets nieuws en dat vind ik zo tof. Ze limiteert zich niet in welk genre ze schrijft en deze keer komt ze met een geheel nieuw genre. Een genre wat echt perfect is voor de herfst! Eigenlijk kwam dit boek al in de zomer uit, maar ik denk dat het perfect is om te lezen nu het in de avond sneller donker wordt.

Een goed verhaal, met uitgewerkte details en een plot die fantastisch in elkaar zit, maakte dat Legendborn één van mijn favoriete boeken is die ik in 2020 heb gelezen! En later dit najaar komt eindelijk het vervolg uit waar ik enorm naar uitkijk.
Five Survive – Holly Jackson
Eight hours.
Six friends.
One sniper . . .
Eighteen year old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break. It’s a long drive but spirits are high. Until the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. There’s no mobile phone reception and nobody around to help. And as the wheels are shot out, one by one, the friends realise that this is no accident. There’s a sniper out there in the dark watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for.
A game of cat-and-mouse plays out as the group desperately tries to get help and to work out which member of the group is the target. Buried secrets are forced to light in the cramped, claustrophobic setting of the RV, and tensions within the group will reach deadly levels. Not everyone will survive the night.
Ik genoot enorm van Jackson haar eerder verschenen boeken. En waren ze behoorlijk duister, toch kan ik niet wachten om haar nieuwste boek te lezen.
De jongen uit het woud – Leigh Bardugo
De Grishaverse wordt uitgebreid met een graphic novel! In De jongen uit het woud leer je de Duisterling kennen voordat hij de Schaduwvlakte creëerde en hij de leider van Ravka’s Tweede Leger werd. Dit boek is een prequel op de Grishaverse en speelt zich vóór Schim en Schaduw af. Eryk is samen met zijn moeder al zijn hele leven op de vlucht, want ze zijn de gevaarlijkste en zeldzaamste Grisha die er bestaan. Ze worden opgejaagd door degene die hun willen vernietigen, of juist in hun macht willen krijgen. Hun Grisha-gave moeten ze dus koste wat het kost verbergen. Maar dat blijkt zelfs na jaren oefening ontzettend ingewikkeld, en soms zelfs dodelijk.
Als Grisha fan kan dit boek uiteraard niet missen in mijn collectie. Daarnaast is boek denk ik ook een fijne afwisseling naast de eerder genoemde boeken.
Babel – R.F. Kuang

Ik moet bekennen dat ik nog nooit eerder een verhaal van Kuang heb gelezen. Waarom? Geen idee. Haar boeken worden geprezen en ik heb er veel goede verhalen over gehoord. Maar misschien komt het omdat er al een hele serie uit is dat het me afschrikt om er aan te beginnen? Een standalone voelt voor mij makkelijker om aan te beginnen en wie weet dat ik daarna wel meteen haar eerder geschreven serie wil gaan lezen!
