Van non-fictie tot een manhwa, er verschijnen vele leuke boeken dit jaar!
Naast het bestuderen van de taal vind ik het ook super leuk om boeken van Koreaanse auteurs te lezen. Hopelijk geeft deze blog ook jou veel leesinspiratie!

Dit boek zag ik voorbij komen bij één van mijn favoriete auteurs op het moment, Axie Oh. Het onderwerp van het boek maakte me meteen enthousiast aangezien ik al een aantal andere boeken over feminisme in Korea heb gelezen, maar inmiddels zijn die boeken al verouderd. Ik ben erg benieuwd wat er nu speelt, zeker na de vele protesten over de jaren in Seoul.

De combinatie van een graphic novel en memoir sprak mij enorm aan van dit boek. Ik ben heel benieuwd hoe het verhaal naar beide genres vertaalt.

And Break the Pretty Kings – Lena Jeong | 20 juli
Inspired by the historical Three Kingdoms of Korea, the book follows a crown princess who receives a divine gift, and she must choose between the fate of the peninsula and those she loves.
Er is nog niet heel veel bekend over dit boek, maar toen Axie Oh enthousiast op Instagram vertelde over dit boek, was ik dat ook meteen. De auteur en ik hebben best wel een overeenkomende smaak heb ik gemerkt, dus ik volg eigenlijk altijd haar boekentips en heb nog nooit een misser tussen haar aanraders gelezen.

Het vorige boek van Suk vond ik echt genieten als luisterboek! Ze gaf haar personages veel ruimte om te groeien en haar manier van schrijven was erg prettig om naar te luisteren. Vanzelfsprekend ben ik dus nieuwsgierig naar haar nieuwste werk die dit najaar gaat verschijnen.

Misunderstood and pining for love, one girl finds that she has much in common with Penelope and tries again and again to get her “good ending.” She is granted one more try…when she falls asleep and wakes up as Penelope herself in the hostile world of the game!
Technisch gezien is dit boek al verschenen in het Engels… Maar ik wacht tot de Duitse versie uitkomt, aangezien ik manga’s en manhwa’s in het Duits lees. Zowel om mijn kennis van de taal te verbeteren als omdat de manhwa’s in die taal een stuk goedkoper zijn. Nu moet ik alleen nog wel even wachten tot de zomer, maar gelukkig heb ik tot die tijd nog genoeg te lezen.
