In honour of me going to The Eras Tour tonight… I would like to share this very fun book tag!
Honestly I can’t believe it’s finally happening! Tonight I will see Taylor Swift for the first time and I couldn’t be more excited. I have been a fan of her since her album Fearless dropped. The only artist who I’ve been following for this long while it felt she attended every life event of mine. Her music is always by my side. It’s incredible when you can grow up together with an artist and live through multiple eras. Even as a reader I went through multiple eras and taste changes. Let’s talk about it in this book tag!
The Tortured Poets Department – An awfully pretentious read
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, this book is literally about nothing… The author simply has an excellent publicist. The book basically suggests: have sex and be happy. Nothing happens during the first 50%. Then, there is mild drama, followed by more nothingness. And, it ends on a sombre note.
Midnights – A book that kept you up past midnight
There have been many books like this, but the book I most vividly remember not being able to stop reading is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It was 4 o’clock in the morning when I finished that book. There were luckily no regrets since it was a Sunday and I had no work that day.
Folklore & Evermore – An underrated book
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. With over 120.000 ratings on Goodreads I probably can’t exactly call this book underrated, nevertheless I hope that the audience for this book will continue to grow.
Lover – A book with a great love story
A “Cinderella”-inspired slow-burn historical romance with a paranormal twist set in Meiji-era Japan: My Happy Marriage. I love this love story so much that I’ve read the manga, watched both the anime and the live action.
Reputation – A book that lived up to the hype
I remember being so scared to start in Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, but it definitely lived up to the hype and this book is even one of my favourite books nowadays! The dynamic in this book is something else, I have highlighted so many quotes in my edition and this book made me see my own life completely differently. Yes, this is a fantasy book but it touched me in a way that I didn’t expect it to do so.
1989 – A book set in New York
*stares in the blank space in my bookcase* Do I currently own a book set in New York or do I know a book that does? I believe the last book that I read that was set in the city that never sleeps is The Name Drop by Susan Lee. This story is a good mix between a K-Drama and a Hallmark movie, so not everyone’s taste but I enjoyed it as a light read.
Red – A book with a red cover
Hope Is the Thing With Feathers: The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson. Okay fair, this book also has a lot of orange on the cover… This poetry collection is simply too good not to share.
Speak Now – A book you can’t stop recommending
If I am completely honest, I recommend Six of Crows quite a lot. But for my poetry lovers I would love to share the title To Air the Soul, Throw All the Windows Wide with you, it’s written by Mary Dorcey.
Fearless – A book with a strong female character
The Spinster Club-series by Holly Bourne is about different characters who are all friends together and I absolutely love how they discuss together what it means to be a strong woman and how it might look completely different for every woman.
Also I can’t seem to shut up about If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha. This book is extremely raw but full of passion, the ending scene is pure womanhood.
Debut – A book that’s been on your TBR forever
That’s The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I actually moved it to my bookcase filled with books I’ve already read. I don’t know why but it feels like I am just not ready to read the book yet. The film moved me so much and I’ve only watched it once in the cinema, but the story always stuck with me.
Love,
