Een TBR met YA, comics en Koreaanse mythologie.

Maja’s eindexamenjaar is belabberd begonnen: al vóór de herfstvakantie wordt ze van school gestuurd. Haar ouders denken dat het goed voor haar zal zijn als ze een tijdje bij familie in Amsterdam gaat wonen. Maja ziet hier het nut niet van in, maar besluit het als een kans te zien. Nu kan ze meer tijd doorbrengen met haar nicht Regina, die alles is wat zij zou willen zijn – succesvol, creatief en vooral: een goed mens.
In haar nieuwe woonplaats weet niemand wat er thuis gebeurd is en Maja is ook niet van plan om dat te vertellen. Dit is hét moment om zich eindelijk eens normaal te gedragen en vrienden te maken. Maar dat wordt moeilijk wanneer Regina haar beschuldigt van iets wat ze niet heeft gedaan. Ze moet en zal erachter komen wat haar nicht in haar schild voert. Is Regina wel zo perfect als Maja altijd dacht?

Jaaaaa! Drie jaar geleden las ik Bijna echt en ik vond het een heerlijke pageturner! Dus ik kijk uit naar het nieuwste werk van de auteur. Ja, ik weet dat dit boek al even uit is, maar ik kwam er steeds maar niet aan toe, maar voor deze maand ligt het boek bovenop de stapel!

Steven haar boeken zijn mijn auto-buy. Ze komt altijd met iets nieuws en dat vind ik zo tof. Ze limiteert zich niet in welk genre ze schrijft en deze keer komt ze met een geheel nieuw genre.

Ik genoot enorm van de eerste volume, dat ik het liefst meteen door wilde lezen. Een manhwa leest op bepaalde vlakken anders dan een manga en ik moet zeggen dat manhwa’s mijn voorkeur hebben al heb ik er nog maar slechts één gelezen. Wellicht omdat ik dat van links naar rechts lees, maar ook omdat ik de manier van vertellen net iets prettiger vind in manhwa’s dan in manga’s. Desalniettemin geniet ik alsnog van manga’s. (Deze manhwa lees ik in het Duits.)

Deze serie zag ik per toeval voorbij komen, maar toen ik zo ontzettend veel goede dingen over hoorde van Manga YouTubers besloot ik het te kopen en hopelijk heb ik de tijd om het deze maand te lezen! (Deze manga lees ik in het Duits.)

XOXO geschreven door dezelfde auteur is een van mijn lievelingsboeken die ik las in 2021. Ze schrijft heel prettig waardoor je als lezer steeds verder wilt lezen. Tegelijkertijd weet ze karakteristieke elementen van K-drama’s in haar verhalen te stoppen. XOXO ging over K-pop, maar dit boek is gebaseerd op Koreaanse mythologie.
