A beautiful cohesive album with old school vibes. Let’s unbox!
When Jisoo announced her first solo mini-album under her own label I was surprised. This woman has been booked left and right for so many K-drama projects, both movies and tv-shows, that I was like: she is probably going to wait to release music. I thought if we get another single album from her before the BlackPink members are going to have a comeback as a group… well that would already be a lot! But nope, here she is with a very well curated mini-album.

There are a few K-pop webshops I love in Europe, but Kyeopta must be my favourite in my home country The Netherlands. They package your order without the use of plastic and their customer service is outstanding! With them I placed my order for Jisoo’s AMORTAGE both for the Reels ver. as the Exclusive Edition in the colour purple. Normally I buy one edition of an album. I only buy multiple editions if there is something special about it. And let’s be honest, the Reels ver. must be one of the most original album editions I have seen in a while. But the thing is, I also love CD’s so of course I also got myself the Exclusive Edition. So let’s have a closer look at the physical album!

The Reels ver. is a small plastic box with inside a Viewfinder, NFC Reel and a Flipbook. The box has cute details that fit the overall album concept. In case you haven’t listened to the album yet or read my review, then let me explain why the Viewfinder was a genius idea!
The album is a montage of Jisoo’s love by blending “amore” and “montage”, creating a poetic concept that transforms her album into a cinematic and auditory collection of intimate love stories. With the song Your Love I even mentioned: ‘The production feels very intimate, especially the verse that feels like the mind of the singer and the chorus explodes like a musical theater scene in a movie. It’s that song you want to put on when you are driving on a warm summer night with the sunset as the backdrop’.
The Flipbook is cute and feels super old school with the Viewfinder. There is only one point of critique I have, I wished there were more Reels included.

Let’s move over to the Exclusive Edition in the colour purple. I like the outer box even though it was a bit hard to photograph with the lenticular photo part. Around the box you find multiple cinematic details that make not just the musical album but also the physical album very cohesive.

When you open the box you find the CD that is pressed like a Reel. How original?

Inside the box in the toplayer there is a Flipbook that is different from the Reels ver. And I was one of the lucky ones, as an Early Bird Special I got a Key Tag. There are 4 different ones, and I got TEARS.

Underneath the top layer is the Screenplay Book or better known as the photobook. Again, I love the details of this album! It also came with 2 not random Postcards.

In the Screenplay Book hiding between the pages you find your Photocard and Polaroid.
AMORTAGE is both lovely to hear and to see. Bonus that it fits my current room style with its purple and my love for cinema and music. It’s for sure an eyecatcher on my music shelves!
