Unboxing Le Sserafim “Crazy”

Last week my Le Sserafim Crazy albums arrived. Let’s go to the unboxing!

In total I have four favourite groups within the K-pop industry: BlackPink, BTS, Stray Kids and… Le Sserafim. But while I only became a fan of the other groups later, I was a fan of Le Sserafim right from the start. Two years ago, this girl group debuted with two Koreans, two Japanese (one of the girls even studied in the Netherlands!) and a Korean American. In K-pop terms, this is a diverse group and that is also reflected in the music. I’ve already posted several album and merch unboxings from this group in the past, and also my “Crazy” review over here

Crazy has, just like previous albums, Antifragile, Unforgiven and Easy, three different versions of the album. Each with a completely unique style that all fit the concept of the group: vol. 1 Thundering Cedar – black, vol. 2 Heathers Rock – blue, vol. 3 Fairy Floss – grey.

Well, I have a confession to make… I bought multiple versions, all for very different reasons. First up I placed an order with the Dutch webshop Kyeopta for: Weverse Albums ver. (I received “b”), the special BALACLAVA ver. and of course the one I will be talking about today, the normal album. Like I mentioned before there are three different versions of that album. Unfortunately I couldn’t select which version I wanted, to no fault of the webshop since they had to wait and see what Weverse delivers, and Weverse delivered no version one. Personally I prefer to collect version one, since that version is the “tough” photoshoot and it’s also the shoot that gets promoted the most. So I decided to buy version one from the Belgian shop SuperDragonToys.
Both (web)shops are amazing! I do prefer to buy local, but when that’s not possible I reach out to Belgium, this webshop sells way more than just K-pop, also a lot of manga and anime related products.

So here we are with two versions. Of course I will use both albums, version one for the music and with version three I have plans to use for some upcoming crafts projects. Nevertheless I will show both albums in this unboxing.

I love the way how the design team comes up with different ideas to showcase the same album measurements, but in different fonts for each era. We had sleeves, opening it like a package and this time around a sleeve but with a lenticular cover and the photobook (the colourful side) and the goodies are in a folder both attached to the hardcover (!). This is the first time we have a hardcover, and then it is also beautifully cleverly designed.

When opening up the photobook (80 pages) the first thing you see are the lyrics 1-800-hot-n-fun. I personally think it is a good introduction to the album. Funny enough this song quickly became a crowd favourite and to be honest it’s my fave too. I love how playful it is and how much the members are involved along the lines. And as a Rock and Roll girl, I absolutely adore this song for its catchy guitar riff.

The folder on the other side has a print on the bottom that fits the different versions perfectly. Thundering for Thundering Cedar.

Every album comes with its own postcard version. This one is displayed on my Kpop/music shelves together with the album.

The Fairy Floss postcard is standing in my bookshelves where I have a lot of green and pink details, so this card fits right in.

Why have a boring lyric book if you also can have a sing-along melody book? In the back of this booklet you can find the CD.

Of course you can’t go wrong with some stickers! Each album comes with three different ones, however the stickers are the same for every album. Also the album comes with a paper toy that is slightly different for each version. The thing is I could explain this joke, but if you’re not a Fearnot I am afraid that it will go right over your head. I adore that they put an inside joke in the album, just for the fans to make them laugh when opening the album.

Posters! Time to switch out the poster from the last era out of its frame for a new one.

Lastly, photocards. When I bought my album from Kyeopta I bought the album that came with a Weverse gift. The gift this time around was a photocard with a photocard holder. So here is the thing, Yunjin is my bias and someone (or maybe all) working at the webshop knows this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for gifting me Yunjin! Personally I have the feeling it was no coincidence cause with my BALACLAVA ver. I also got Yunjin as a Weverse gift. Again, thank you sooo much. I really appreciate the webshops’ attention to detail.

With Thundering Cedar I pulled Kazuha and with Fairy Floss I pulled Sakura.

One more thing I would like to mention about this album is the creativity of the team by reinventing the Le Sserafim logo for each comeback. It truly shines through with the lenticular cover.

Never before have the Fimmies and their team put out an album that’s so cohesive while still exploring genres, but nevertheless it conveys the typical Le Sserafim sound and message. The girls have gone through a massive vocalgrowth, at the same time I like how they are also still looking for what they can do more, for example when they all rapp on the Crazy track.
And then the visuals are wow… the lore, the girls’ thoughts and the dance style that suits this era the best. Everything comes together in this album with just a single word: Crazy!

You can read all my thoughts in the blogpost, Why Le Sserafim’s “Crazy” is a masterpiece | album reaction. Once again thank you to the webshops for delivering and the Le Sserafim’s design team for creating an album very fitting for this comeback.

Love,
