Verschillende BookTubers die ik volg hadden het over dit boek en toen ik zag dat het boek op Storytel staat, voegde ik het meteen toe aan mijn digitale boekenplank.

Een elite boarding school op het Engelse platteland? Meer hoef ik niet te weten! Extra leuk dat ook dit verhaal te luisteren is op Storytel. Ik moet straks nog activiteiten verzinnen om te doen naast het luisteren. Bakken, koken, opruimen, puzzelen… wat kan ik nog meer doen?

Dit is een manhwa gemaakt door Hybe, het entertainment bedrijf onder andere achter BTS. Voor verschillende groepen zijn er Webtoons gemaakt en ik ben super blij dat ze nu eindelijk vertaald worden naar fysieke manhwa’s. De groepen TXT en Enhypen zullen later dit jaar ook volgen met hun eigen manhwa’s. Ik hoop zelf dat de manhwa van Le Sserafim volgend jaar ook verschijnt. Maar dat verwacht ik wel, aangezien de verhaallijnen van TXT, Enhypen en Le Sserafim in hetzelfde universum plaatsvinden.

Emphasizing the significance of her childhood “friend” Walt Whitman, who inspired her to vanish into the world of her own writing, Oliver meditates on the forces that allowed her to create a life for herself out of work and love. Throughout this collection, Oliver positions not just herself upstream but us as well—as she encourages us all to keep moving, to lose ourselves in the awe of the unknown, and to give power and time to the creative and whimsical urges that live within us.
Ik heb al wat werk van Mary Oliver gelezen, maar dat waren voornamelijk gedichten. Het lijkt me leuk om mijn kennis van haar werk te verrijken met haar essays.
Deze autist ging naar Japan – Bianca Toeps
Toen Bianca Toeps in 2008 voor het eerst in Japan was, wist ze het al: ‘Hier ga ik ooit wonen.’ Sinds kort heeft ze eindelijk haar micro-appartementje in Tokio, maar dat ging niet zonder slag of stoot.
In dit boek vind je geen levenswijsheden, opgehangen aan een Japans woord waar men in het Westen veel meer betekenis aan toedicht dan menig Japanner. Ook geen freakshow, want in tegen- stelling tot wat je op tv ziet, zijn de meeste Japanners heel normaal. Wat dan wel?
Deze autist ging naar Japan is het inspirerende verhaal van een vrouw die op humoristische wijze vertelt over een verhuizing naar de andere kant van de wereld – naar een plek waar sommige dingen voor autisten misschien net iets beter werken. Behalve belastingzegels dan. En bankrekeningen. En faxen.
Van verschillende mensen heb ik goede verhalen gehoord over Toeps haar schrijfstijl, dus ik kijk ernaar uit om dit boek te gaan lezen.
